Day of Reckoning

Ideally I would love for India to go for a win but will the Indians wilt under pressure and draw the series against England or drag out a draw. Well, Dravid will have to prove his mantle in the latter case, esp with Sehwag & Sachin both out injured and Laxman inexplicably left out of the team. Only he remains a batsman whos both experienced and reliable.

So as I said before shall Indians make Flintoff a Hero, an even bigger one. Only time will tell....

Perfect Weekend

What’s better than a weekend with food delivered and sports on the telly all day long?

Sunday the 13th of March shall always be remembered by sports fans as the day Australia and South Africa both rewrote the history books. But I shall remember the day just because of the sports content involved.

Firstly it was the India-England test series (which even with an Indian Victory in Sight was boring compared to the other fares on offer). Then it was the Bahrain GP where Alonso outsmarted Michael Schumacher for the chequered flag. After that it was a Rooney master class in a 2-0 win for Manchester United over Newcastle. The icing on the cake was Gibbs playing out of his Skin to win the match for South Africa. Then I fell asleep watching Thierry Henry and Arsenal in a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

What a day!!!! PHEW

Saturday was spent sleeping and a trip to Bottles and Chimneys with Ki, Ka, A and F. Was another good day spoilt by a sprained wrist.

More weekends like this please.

Marriage….WHY ???

Got cornered by my aunts yesterday about when and who I shall marry. Well imagine my state when four battle hardened ladies who make you sit in a easy chair in the corner of a small room and pull chairs all around and bombard you with questions about your future. When? Who? Why so Late? Wanna be bald before you marry? You are no longer Young now? You earn enuf? Any painful break-ups? Anyone we should know about? Can we start searching?

All that torture finally got me thinking…. WHY?

Have listed the options here and frankly I care a hoot for what people think but if you are a well-mannered, courteous, civilized, polite, decent MORON. Please stop reading.
So again, Marriage….WHY ???

  • Companionship: I get bored while I am lazing around my room on a Saturday but that’s how I unwind. And while I love company don’t you like having your own space? And I have enough friends who know when to come over and when to leave but marriage would actually mean that I have to put up with her for life. Read this to see the irony!
  • Dowry: Well I shall not steep down so low after living through a comfortable life till date (fingers crossed). Also it comes within our family that we abhor the very concept of dowry even though it remains the single reason why the education industry is thriving around the globe.
  • The Dreaded word which got Sania Mirza and Khusboo into trouble, SEX : well you get a lot of variety outside wedlock, try being decent looking, owning a car and having cash to burn (esp. for a condom). Not that I am about to do any one of these, but I can still hypothesise.
  • Procreation: Well with the population of India being what it is, I can be a true India ala rang-de-basanti and do my bit for the country by not contributing.
  • Children: you can have one without getting married again hypothetically esp. in India but I have nieces and nephews to fill that void and love them, so it really does not make a difference.
  • As hard as I tried I could not come up with another reason and excuse.

So let me come to the first point again, WHY?????

Pre-Intuition

Call it pre- intuition, instinct, perception or just plain dumb insight. I somehow have a feeling that inspite of all this, India is not going to beat England comprehensively. Instead the very fact that Andrew Flintoff has been given the captaincy makes it good for cricketing conspiracy theory buffs to believe that England will create an upset and win the series.

Shall explain later, Siebel calling :D.

Hope I am wrong!!
